Bio

I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where I am a member of the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics, Department of Ecosystems and Landscape Dynamics (IBED-ELD). This position was created to strengthen the ties between the natural and social science faculties at UvA, and I collaborate with colleagues from both fields of research.

Prior to joining UvA, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI) at Princeton University, during which I was also a guest researcher at the Stockholm Resilience Center (SRC), the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ.

My Postdoc research focused on governance for urban sustainability transformations, and on human behavior that is shaped by the natural, the built, and the social environment in which we live.

I completed my PhD within the Ecological Sciences and Engineering Interdisciplinary Graduate Program at Purdue University, and in affiliation with the HIGRADE program at Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research. My PhD research focused on urban water supply security, resilience, and sustainability in several cities around the world. My main case studies were Amman (Jordan) and Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia). I hold a Master's degree in Hydrology from University of Freiburg i. Br. (Germany), during which I had the chance to do research in Israel, India, and Greece.

Prior to my PhD I worked as a research manager for international and interdisciplinary water and environmental research projects at Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, and as assistant to the scientific director in the development of strategic research programs. I started my career with public communication in an environmental non-governmental organization in France and cross-border stakeholder coordination for the International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine river.
